Hey everyone. I have a 97 lifted jeep wrangler for trade that has 14,000 invested in it. Been looking to get back into a westy since I sold my 76 reluctantly. Anyone interested pm me. I'll send pictures and all the details if interested. Thanks everyone!

I have 2 "Westys", same year, same color scheme, 1 full camper and a weekender.
I am selling the weekender for $6000

or use as downpayment on a VWsynchro-camper (4x4).

I originally bought the weekender for parts for my camper, but then it kept running so well after i gave it new cylinder heads, new steering fluid pump, shocks.....

Thursday July 14 2016 I start on a trip I've dreamed about for years!
Following the Great Circle route to Calgary Alberta Canada will take me 6 days arriving there on the 20th. Jean Osborne will fly from Knoxville
and we'll spend the next 10 days touring/camping at Banff, Yoho, and Jasper National Parks. She will fly back on the 30th and my plans then are to follow the Rockies south touring/camping through our US parks
till I reach mid Colorado. My estimate is I'll return to Knoxville just in time for Busses on the River.

Subaru broke!
Saturday the 16th a soft clicking noise started but went away as I went 15 or so. Clicking got louder but still quit as I started to get moving. Temperatures normal, oil pressure normal, keep going.
Sunday after 300+ interstate miles at 70/75 it bucked/snorted/sneezed and quit in Donny Brook ND.
My Good Sam road side assistance towed me to Minot ND.
Monday the service manager said they didnt have the expertise to diagnose and recommended Kupper Subaru in Bismark ND. Good Sam obliged and took me there. Total miles 160 miles (away from the direction I was going).
I left it there, rented a car and am continuing my trip as scheduled except now we'll be at Motels/Cabins/ B&B's instead of my Vanagon.
I'll keep you updated as I know more.

I'm now in Canmore Alberta. Last report was in Bismark ND.
After leaving the Subaru shop in late afternoon I only went 267 miles to Cubertson MT July 18th. Saw "fracking rigs" and housing dorms for the workers all across northern ND.
Nearly 400 miles the next day to Shelby MT where they advertise Casinos that only have two to four machines.
Crossed into Canada on Wednesday morning and they made me "abandon" my small pepper spray that I've carried for a couple years. Met Jean at the HUGE Calgary airport and this morning came to our first view of those magnificent mountains that now surround us.

My last post included a picture that did not attach.
That same picture can be found on my Facebook page so it appears if I wish my Moony friends to see my pictures they will have to see them on Facebook.

You know if you visit Golden BC there is a ski resort there called Kicking Horse Resort. And if you drive up that mountain you'll find inside of the big building a Pub called Peak's Grill and Bar.
But, what you won't find is an "IN" because neither Dan nor Cory are there anymore.

Still driving a rental car but alive and well and now back at Mandan ND(sister city to Bismark) where my Vanagon now resides at a Subaru service. I saw it today, first time in two weeks, high on a lift with the motor on the floor. Tomorrow is break it down/figure it out/tell me what's wrong/ what'll it cost day.
On another track let me fill you in about the Canadian Rockies. In one word, magnificent! I have been many places, seen many wonders, but nothing can compare as these mountains are inspiring and always changing with the sun/clouds/wind and continue to amaze and strike you mute.
The direction of travel, the angle of the sun, the amount of clouds, the strength of the wind on the waters all change your perspective and for TEN days we were in complete and utter AWE! WOW what a trip!

    Good question!
    Short answer, I don't know.
Checked in with the Subaru folks today and I got to keep my heads but needed both case halves, four each rods and pistons and a new main crank! It was all put back together today and tomorrow they'll put it with the tranny and raise it back in place and rehook everything. Hopefully drive it out tomorrow.
Mark, Phil, what would you charge for this job if on a VW ??
I'll find out the Subaru answer tomorrrow.
    Vanaru Hans, Are you listening???

After replacing all of the above there is still a clicking that comes and goes that turns out to be (see Mark's post of July 20) the Torque Convertor.

The replacement TQ won't be here (Bismark) till Saturday afternoon so it won't be back together till Monday afternoon at the earliest, probably Tuesday.
I am getting better at posting pictures on Facebook but still can't post on this site. Since there's not much to do here I'll work on trying to alter my approach and perhaps post pix here sucessfully. In the mean time check me out on Facebook.
